Maths practice
Everything your child practises in Maqqii, from first sums to fractions and decimals, with a page for each topic: what it is, why it matters and how your child can approach it.
An exercise can only be done once your child is ready for it: once they have mastered what lies beneath it, and the other topics are not too far behind. That is why Maqqii first looks at what your child can already do, and then sets out exactly the next sum.
The basics
- AdditionAddition practice in six steps, from 2 + 3 to adding four numbers under 100: the small sums by heart first, then crossing ten, then tens and ones.
- SubtractionSubtraction practice in six steps, from 3 − 1 to 63 − 57: taking away, counting back and counting up, always alongside addition, up to 100.
- MultiplicationMultiplication practice in five steps, from 5 × 2 to 6 × 15 = 90: each starts with doubling, then sums with zeros on the end, the times tables alongside.
- DivisionDivision practice in five steps, from 9 ÷ 3 to 84 ÷ 6 = 14: each starts with halving, then division facts from the times tables and round numbers.
Further
- FractionsFractions practice in four topics, from reading 3/8 of a cake to 1/3 + 3/4 and 3/4 ÷ 2/5: reading, equivalent fractions, adding, multiplying and dividing.
- DecimalsDecimals practice, from 1.4 + 2.1 to 0.007 + 2.236 = 2.243: reading a decimal, lining up the columns, adding and subtracting, then moving the point.
- PowersPowers practice, from 6² = 6 × 6 to 3⁵ = 243: reading and writing a power first, then the powers of 2 to 9, the small ones before the large ones.
Puzzles
- The number lineNumber line practice, from placing 7 between 1 and 10 to jumping in fives and tens: first a line to 10, then to 20, then to 50 and 100.
- Number sequencesNumber sequences practice, from 7, 11, 15 to 2, 3, 5, 8, 12: the same step every time first, then steps that change, then everything mixed.
